...But I Feel Fine!

Lack of pain is a poor way to judge how healthy you are. In fact, this method can be dangerous. Waiting until you are miserable before seeking a solution, is reactive and damaging to your health, not to mention unpleasant. A much better way is a proactive approach, which takes steps to ensure that you don’t have to experience pain or dis-ease in the first place.

The vast majority of people are wasting precious time and money recovering from preventable conditions, while true wellness lies in a healthy lifestyle that protects – as much as is possible – from the physical and mental afflictions that are so common. Wouldn’t you rather focus on wellness and prevention than disease and treatment?

“Fine” is a relative term. People may say they feel “fine,” yet they have low energy, or they sleep poorly, or they have headaches and backaches. Too many report feeling fine just before they have a sudden heart attack or are diagnosed with a serious condition. It is evident that “feeling fine” is not a reliable indicator of health.

A healthy diet and environment, exercise, good sleep, fresh air, supportive relationships, regular checkups with your doctor…these are all excellent ways to foster a lifestyle that promotes health wellness and prevents sickness. Periodic chiropractic adjustments are the ideal complement to a healthy lifestyle, because the alignment of your spine – and the well-being of your nervous system – is critical to maintaining health. Your body’s immune system and other vital functions depend on it.

The “I feel fine” myth also applies to those who are seeing a chiropractor to find relief for specific injuries or areas of discomfort. You may be tempted to discontinue your chiropractic visits once your pain has diminished, but alleviated symptoms do not always mean true healing has been achieved. Also, long-standing subluxations (distortions in the spine) can cause postural changes and scar tissue that make you more susceptible to a re-lapse when life’s inevitable physical and emotional stresses come along.

Chiropractic adjustments are more than just a “better-than-aspirin” pain-reliever. Our goal for you at Livewell Chiropractic FCC is for your entire family for your entire lives. Talk to Dr. French about developing a personal maintenance and prevention plan to support your best health.

Come listen to Dr. French speak on how to get out of the sickness and treatment paradigm and into the wellness and prevention paradigm.  This engagement will take place Thursday, April 21st from 6:15-7:00 p.m. at Livewell.  There will be light refreshments from McAlisters Deli.  Please RSVP  by Monday, April 18th.  There are limited seats so please RSVP soon.
